About Us
Welcome to Upper Killay Community Council
Established in 2000, our aim is to serve residents of Upper Killay and supporting our local community through recreation, community events, environmental improvements and local representation. Explore our facilities, discover upcoming events and learn how to get involved.

The Community Council is responsible for representing the views of the community to local authorities and other public bodies.
The Community Council was established under the Local Government Act 1972 and replaced the previous system of parish councils.
Each community council takes the name of the community followed by the words 'Community Council' or, in Welsh, 'Cyngor Cymuned'. As such, we are known as ‘Upper Killay Community Council’.
The functions of a community council are set out in legislation. Among the services and amenities we most commonly provide is a village hall, playing fields and open spaces, seats, shelters, street lighting and footpaths. Under the Local Government Act 2000, our community council has the power to do anything we consider is likely to achieve the promotion or improvement of the economic well-being, social well-being or environmental well-being of our area.
